Summary, etc. Tenali Rama, was a poor Brahmin boy who got a boon from Mother Kali to choose between wealth and knowledge. But Tenali, being witty and intelligent, got both from the court of Krishandeva Raya. This collection of stories brings to life his unmatched wit and wisdom at the court of King's court. The book is set in sixteenth century India in the Vijayanagara Empire, one of the most powerful kingdoms of South India. Krishnadeva Raya, the unrivalled King of Vijayanagara, was a great patron of art and literature. Tenali Rama, the brilliant jester was the King's favourite courtier. Tenali could never resist a challenge and more often than not he won them with his wit and ingenuity. Greedy courties, pompous pundits and inflated egos got a good rubbing each time they crossed paths with Tanali's wit and intelligence. The book is filled with slapstick comedy and verbal sparring. The book is written in easy to read language and enhanced by colourful illustrations on each page to capture the attention of our young friends. Each story gives an insight into the lives of the king and courtiers of a bygone era.
