Summary, etc. The founding father and prime architect of the Indian Atomic Energy Programme, Homi Jehangir Bhabha belonged to an illustrious and learned family with a long tradition of service to the country. After passing his Senior Cambridge Leaving Examination from Bombay, Bhabha proceeded to England, in 1927, to join Gonville and Caius College at Cambridge to study mechanical engineering. Due to his passion for Physics, he switched over to research in Theoretical Physics. During the period 1930-1939, Bhabha conducted outstanding fundamental<br/>research related to cosmic radiation and he developed strong friendship with eminent scientists such as Paul Dirac, Niels Bohr, Wolfgang Pauli, Enrico Fermi, Wilfrid Lewis and John Cockcroft. He came to India on a short holiday in 1939. He got stuck in India due to outbreak of World War II and joined as Reader at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. In 1941, he was elected Fellow of Royal Society (FRS), London. Bhabha's dynamic leadership of the Atomic Energy Programme spanned more than 20 years.<br/>This booklet is a tribute in an illustrated form to this legendary science and technology icon of India.
